Member representing Kaga/Magumeri/Gubio Federal Constituency in Borno, Hon. Usman Zannah, has distributed food items to 5,000 heads of households, stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, families of Civilian Joint Task Force, Hunters, and Vigilantes among others to cushion the effect of economic hardship in his constituency the State as a whole.
Recall that Civilian JTF, hunters, and Vigilantes have been complementing the efforts of the military fighting against the Boko Haram insurgency.
It was observed that those who benefitted from the gesture were youth, women groups, and other stakeholders irrespective of political consideration.
Unveiling the distribution of the food items, which comprised assorted bags of rice, grains, and other condiments in Maiduguri on Sunday, Zanna said the gesture would encourage people in the constituency to value government presence and be law-abiding citizens.
“This is part of the federal government’s intervention to alleviate the suffering of our people and ensure food security across the country,” he said.
Zanna noted that the youth and women groups are vulnerable, but he also holds those sacrificing their lives to provide peace so dearly, especially Civilian Joint Task Force members and other volunteers who deserve much of his support.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, and Borno State governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for all their support in ensuring that the troubled areas of his constituency were liberated which gave freedom and peace to Internally Displaced Persons who returned back to their ancestral homes with dignity.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the other Chairmen of Magumeri and Gubio, as well as beneficiaries, the Chairman of Kaga local government, Alhaji Goni Abdullah described Hon. Zannah as a philanthropist even before he became a federal Lawmaker, as his Foundation has impacted positively on the lives of many people including students that he sponsored their education within and outside the state.
He therefore commended the lawmaker for supporting the civilian JTF and other security agencies consistently.
“They were the ones who sacrificed their lives to fight and reclaim our communities from the Boko Haram insurgents. We can’t thank you enough for considering them every year, and you don’t know how this food will aid and encourage them,” he said.
Abdullah warned the beneficiaries against selling the food items given to them, saying doing so would discourage future efforts of the lawmakers and government.
