CDS calls for construction of roads critical to military operations

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has called for the urgent construction and
rehabilitation of roads that are critical to military operations.

General Musa, who made this call when he paid a courtesy visits to the ministers of Works and Housing and Agriculture and food Security in Abuja, also noted that good roads are pivotal to military operations.

Acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, in a statement, said that CDS leadership approach is people centric.

The CDS applauded the Minister of Works and Housing, Senator Dave Umahi for his efforts towards rehabilitating Nigeria deplorable high ways.

In his response, the Minister of Works and Housing, Senator Dave Umahi condoled with the CDS on the recent unfortunate killing of military personnel in Delta State.

He also appreciated the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for it’s approach in handling the situation.

Sen Umahi also commended the military for the renewed vigour in the fight against insecurity in Nigeria.

He further assured of his ministry readiness to partner the AFN to rehabilitate roads that are critical to military operations.

Similarly, General Musa, while speaking at the Ministry of Agriculture and food security, showed appreciation to the minister for the ministry’s giant efforts in addressing food security in the country.

He expressed the AFN desire to work with the ministry to bring to an end the contentious farmer/ herders conflicts.

The Defence Chief also informed the Minister of the rediness of the Defence Headquarters to establish Defence Farms to encourage members of the Armed Forces to embrace farming culture.

The minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari who received the CDS in company of the minister of state, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi thanked Gen. Musa for being the first Chief of Defence Staff to visit the ministry.

He seized the opportunity to inform the CDS of government policies aimed towards improving food security in Nigeria.

Senator Kyari also commended the AFN for ensuring the safe return of farmers back to their farm lands.
