No More Sit-at-home In South East – Joint Taskforce Operation Udo Ka

The Joint Task Force, JTF of Operation Udo Ka in the South East region, says it has restore peace and progress of the region as the “ sitting at home order” by Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB is no longer enforced.

The Task Force revealed that between the month of December last year and first quarter of this year, over 164 persons have been arrested by the JTF of Operation Udo Ka, due to the anti-illegal bunkering and other criminal activities in the region.

Within the period, the troops also rescued 117 kidnapped victims and recovered over 153 weapons including ammunition and several other items.

Briefing Defence Correspondents, who were on the tour visit to access the ongoing operational activities carried out by the Joint Task Force of Operation Udo Ka in the South East, the General Officer Commander, GOC 82 Division of the Nigerian Army Enugu and the first commander of Operation Udo Ka, Major General Hassan Dada said that with the ongoing operational activities carried out by the troops, sitting at home order by the IPOB in the South East region is no longer enforced.

According to him, when he came onboard as the first commander of Operation Udo Ka, adequate and effective security have been provided for abiding law residents in the South East region.

He noted that the security situation in the South East region has seriously improve, unlike before where the activities of kidnapping and other criminal elements were carried out in the region.

The General Officer Commander 82 Division of the Nigeria Army described the Indigenous People of Biafra as a group of persons that never mean well or see the progress of their people most especially he said, the enforcement of sit at home order on every Monday.

Major General Dada said with the Joint Task Force of Operation Udo Ka put in region normal activities on Monday and other days in the states of Enugu, Imo, Anambra and other parts of the region have been returned without fear.

He observed that that due to the activities of IPOB, millions of Naira have been lost, people were been kidnapped with ransom been paid while many were been killed, adding that Indigenous People of Biafra are criminals operating illegally without obeying the constitutional law.

Major General Hassan reassured the residents of the region of adequate security and the commitment of troops Operation Udo Ka to flushing out illegal criminal activities carried out in the region.

Speaking to Defence Correspondents, the Rev. Father, Catholic Diocese of St. John’s Parish of Akuma Orlu East Local Government Area of Imo State, Rev.
Father Ihebunachi Gordian also confirmed that the security situation in the area has improved. He called on all stakeholders involved to ensure that lives and people’s properties are protected.

Also in their remarks, the Garrison Commander standing in for Imo Sector Commander, Col Ebuga Moses Akale and Anambra Sector 5 Commander, Col Muhammed Bello Abubakar narrated their experiences on tackling security challenges to some of the hot areas by their troops.
