Alkali Presents Institutional Sustainability Framework to FUTD Governing Council

The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Ahmed Alkali has charged the newly inaugurated governing Councillor of Federal University of Transportation, Daura with coming up with policies and principles geared towards the institution’s sustainability.

Alkali gave the charge when the Chairman and members of the council paid him a courtesy visit Tuesday 16th July, 2024 in Abuja, adding that the only way of ensuring an institution contributes to economic growth and development is by governing it with sustainable policies and principles.

Alkali said; ” You are to come up with sustainability principles and policies that will be your programs and operational guide.

” You can also incorporate staff training programs that are focused on implementing sustainability in areas such as innovation, collaboration, and ethical behavior.

The Minister noted that it is imperative for the new council to immediately swing into action by formulating sound policies aimed at ensuring the actualisation of objectives of establishing the pioneer University with emphasis on development of effective transportation policies that would further strengthen the interconnectedness of operations of the existing roads, rail, air and marine infrastructure.

” FUTD has the responsibility of incorporating the principles of sustainability into your curriculum, research, operations, to foster a culture of sustainability for a sustainable infrastructure, and transportation future of Nigeria,” affirmed Alkali.

The Minister while congratulating the chairman and members of the new council for their well deserved appointment by the President, urged them not to relent their oars delivering on their primary assignment in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.

Earlier in his remark, the Chairman of the Council, Dr Muiz Banire (SAN) assured the cminister of the council’s commitment to bring to bear their wealth of experience in nurturing the infant tertiary institution to maturity.

He maintained that he has passion in transportation sector being a former Commissioner of transport in Lagos State for eight years.
