The collation officer, Prof Olayemi Akinwunmi, announced that the commission would go on recess to resume collation at 5am.

Ondo State has 18 local government areas, therefore, the results of the remaining five local government areas would be collated starting from 5am.

The recess became necessary to allow the remaining results to arrive.

Prof. Akinwunmi said: “We have five more local governments but we are going to take our recess now until 5am to receive some receive from Akure North, Okitipupa and Odigbo, then Ilaje and Ese-Odo. We resume 5am for these local governments.”

Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC) Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola had expressed satisfaction with reports it received on the conduct of the election from all the 18 local government areas of the state.

The REC, who monitored the exercise in the central senatorial district of the state, was in company of INEC National Commissioner, Mr Kenneth Onyeakwu.

She disclosed that there were some reported cases of hitches from some polling units, but were attended to promptly.

On his part, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Oladipo Abayomi in company of heads of other security agencies commended the peaceful conduct of the electorate.
