Prince Emeka Egwuekwe, Managing Director of Prince Interior Furnishing and Furniture Company Limited, has called on the Federal Government (FG) to provide incentives to Nigerian manufacturers to boost the country’s economy.

Egwuekwe’s company is a leading furniture manufacturer in Nigeria, providing training and employment opportunities for many individuals.

While addressing journalists in Abuja, Egwuekwe emphasized the need for the government to prioritize local manufacturers by providing incentives, patronizing their products, and offering tax incentives. He also stressed the importance of reducing the high electricity tariff, which he believes would encourage manufacturers.

Egwuekwe’s plea is not just about his own business, but about the growth of the Nigerian economy. He believes that by supporting local manufacturers, the government can help create jobs, increase domestic production, and reduce the country’s reliance on imported goods.

The industrialist also urged Nigerians to patronize locally-made products, citing the example of China, which shut its borders 20 years ago to focus on domestic production. Egwuekwe believes that Nigeria can learn from China’s experience and build a stronger economy by supporting local industries.

In addition to his call for government support, Egwuekwe is taking steps to develop the skills of young Nigerians. His company is establishing a vocational training institute, which will offer courses in carpentry, welding, and other trades. The institute is expected to start operating in February next year.
