The workshop opened with a welcome address from the Polytechnic Career Service Director, Mr. Abiodun Ogunduboye, who underscored the event’s significance for the students’ academic and professional journeys.

He emphasised that the workshop’s aim was to provide students with “invaluable insights, guidance, and inspiration” to help them make informed career decisions.

“Our distinguished speakers are here to share their experiences, insights, and wisdom,” he added, encouraging students to actively engage with the speakers and to take full advantage of the learning opportunities provided.

The programme11 featured experts from various industries who shared personal stories and professional advice with the students. These speakers, having already “navigated the same waters,” provided a unique perspective that goes beyond academic knowledge.

In an address of welcome, Mr Adegun Olorunwa, the Rector of the Polytechnic, stated that the institution’s goal is to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive in a rapidly changing work environment, and that the career fair demonstrates the institution’s commitment to providing students with the resources and opportunities needed to succeed.

The event kicked off with a keynote address by Dr Olugbenga Jinadu, Director of Academic Planning, who highlighted the significant impact of challenges across various sectors, including healthcare and finance, and emphasized the importance of adaptability and continuous learning to excel in the job market.

Dr Jinadu encouraged students to overcome challenges and tap into their untapped potential. He also urged the gathering to stay focused and shed their fear of failure.

Mr. Anthony Olasele also addressed the students, advising them to anticipate their competitors’ next moves. He emphasized the importance of setting smart goals in life, particularly when striving to achieve something. Additionally, Mr. Olasele encouraged students to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and be open to learning and relearning.

Prince Adegbehingbe also addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of environmental considerations in business and advising them not to let anyone discourage them in their life journey.

He stressed that identifying one’s area of interest is crucial, as it plays a vital role in determining one’s career path, personal development, and overall direction in life, ultimately informing decisions that align with one’s genuine passions.

The seminar left attendees inspired and equipped to face the next phase of their careers, fulfilling the institution’s commitment to supporting student development beyond academics.
