Kaka Shehu Lawan’s Agric Bill, others pass first reading in Senate

In order to promote agric sector, a Bill on agric sponsored by Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan has passed first reading. Other four new Bills had also passed first reading, all on Wednesday with the aim to address key issues in different sectors.

The Bills were: Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Sponsored by Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan (Borno Central). This bill seeks to amend the existing Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Act; Federal Universities of Technology Act (Amendment) Bill, 2015, Sponsored by Sen. Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North). It aims to amend the Federal Universities of Technology Act and; Federal Universities of Agriculture Act (Amendment) Bill, 2015 Sponsored by Sen. Ipalibo Harry Banigo (Rivers West). The aim of the Bill is to amend the Federal Universities of Agriculture Act.

Others were: Federal University of Science Deba, Gombe State (Establishment) Bill, 2025. The Bill was sponsored by Sen. Mohammed Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central), with aims to establish a new federal university in Gombe State and; Nigeria Institute of Apprenticeship, Entrepreneurship and Vocational Studies Onicha Igboeze, Ebonyi State (Establishment) Bill, 2025, Sponsored by Sen. Anthony Okorie Ani (Ebonyi South), seeking to establish a new institute for apprenticeship, entrepreneurship, and vocational studies in Ebonyi State.

The bills seem to mark an important step towards addressing various challenges in the country’s education, agriculture, and vocational training sectors.
