Food Sustainability: ARCN Pledge Support To Deaf Women Farmers Initiative

In a bid to foster growth and promote food sustainability drive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, .the executive secretary Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, (ARCN) Dr. Abubakar Adamu Dabban has assured the Deaf Women Farmers initiative of his support.

In a statement on Tuesday, Khadijat Ameen, Head, ARCN’s Public Relations, stated that the Executive Secretary made the promise when he received the delegation in his office on Tuesday, 2 September, 2025.

Dr. Dabban who was represented by the Director knowledge management and communications,of the council, Dr. Nuhu Yusuf assures that the council will support the initiative.

The ARCN boss while appreciating the group promised to include them in its various projects as it concerns their area of specialization in farming.

He informed them of the Mandate of the council to include the training of middle level manpower to empower farmers and bringing them farmers technologies.

“We have 32 institutions and outlets over the country just let us know area you need support”Dabban said.

On his part, Dr Aliyu Shuaibu Madugu, Director Planing, Research and Statistics harp on the mandate of the council which includes conducting training and the provision of improved crop and animals.

Speaking earlier, Veronica Uwakwe, Executive Director, deaf Women Farmers Initiative informed that the group is a non governmental organization aimed at pushing for women training in agriculture thereby taking them off the streets.

“We are here for help as it concerns empowerment of women in farming.”

Samuel Uwakwe, chairman board of trustee, DWFI on his part appreciated the Executive secretary also appealed for support to bring girls out of the street as it will lessen dependent on white collar jobs and also reduce social vices.
