The chairman of the 2025 Licensed Electrical Contractors Association Nigeria (LECAN), Engr Philip Ewesor has thanked the delegates for adhering to the rules of the election, which according to him contributed to its success. The chairman, when asked said that the election was hitch free , even as he urged members to support the newly elected executives, for the association to move to the next level.

The chairman said this after a national election he organized for the Association on Monday in Abuja, which saw Chief Vitus Ofodum as the new national president of the Association.

It would be recalled that on 24 February, 2025, a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Bwari delivered a judgement in the case between Alhaji Abdulaziz Edochie and 12 others vs the Incorporated Trustees of LECAN and 13 others, and the court ruled that: The national executives, occupying offices were declared null and void and restrained from parading themselves as executives and directed the association to conduct national elections in line with its construction.

In an advice, the national leader of the LECA, Otunba Dele Akintola hailed the members for coming out en mass, and the organizers for a well.plannwd elections, which saw Chief Vitus Ofodum emerge as the Association’s new president. He therefore urged the members to strictly give their support to the new leadership, saying that in LECAN, they remain one. He noted that without support and cooperation to the newly elected executives, the aims and objectives of the association will be defeated, even as he added that they put God first in all their dealings, which if adhered to, the sky would be their limit.

Engr John Ekere Etim, the outgoing national president of LECAN, however urged members to give maximum support to the newly elected president of the association. “I am satisfied with the election and I want all of you to give him all the needed supports he requires, for him to function. We will not allow him to fail,” Etim appealed in support.

As President’s position went to
Ofodum, the position of Vice President 1 and 2 went to Tijani Abubakar and Chief Michael Adenuga respectively. The positions of General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, National Treasurer, Financial Secretary and Publicity Secretary went to Kingsley Agbaise, Mohammed Saidu, Tinuola Michael, Paul Chiroma and Alhaji Bada Olalekan respectively.

Therefore, Provost 1, Abdulrasak Abdulahi, Provost 2, Shadrach Alhaji, PRO 1, Engr. Abdulahi Ibrahim, PRO 2, Engr. Abiola Adekunle. Welfare Officer 1and 2; Auditor 1 and 2 went to Engr. Salami Abiola, Abdulwaheeb Alabi, Engr. Iliyasu Banduse, and Alhaji Adeniji Olasupo respectively.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected president promised to move the association to the expected level, pledging to unite and lead the association towards growth and prosperity. In his acceptance speech, Ofodum expressed gratitude to members and commended the Board of Trustees for their wise decision to dissolve the former EXCO.

He therefore promised to carry all members, and ensure that every voice is heard and every concern addressed. He called for unity, stating: “My victory is not mine alone; it is a victory for all of us.” Ofodum vowed to promote members’ interests, foster professionalism, and ensure LECAN’s respected voice in the industry.
