The Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has received a significant boost to his re-election bid with the defection of Hon. Adamu Shekonlumi, a former PDP stalwart and Aspirant, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to a press release from Kinsley Madaki, the Special Assistant to AMAC Chairman on Media on Sunday, the announcement was made at a vibrant event in Kuchigoro, where Shekonlumi formally resigned from the PDP and joined the APC, marking a strategic political shift within the area council.

The event drew a massive crowd of elders, influential youth leaders, women’s groups, and political stakeholders, who unanimously endorsed Maikalangu’s re-election bid. Maikalangu expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in his leadership, reiterating his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and infrastructure development.

Community elders and stakeholders cited Maikalangu’s visible developmental strides, including road construction, educational reforms, and community empowerment programs, as evidence of his effective leadership. The defection is seen as a testament to Maikalangu’s unity and shared vision for progress, essential for sustaining his administration’s gains and guaranteeing continuity in vital developmental initiatives.
