All roads led to Nnewi Kingdom with celebrations as Igwe KN Orizu III marked his 100th birthday and 62nd year on the throne of Nnewi kingdom.

Prince Orji Nwafor Orizu, Principal Partner at Chinenye Chambers, a law firm in Abuja and Nnewi, hailed the monarch for his outstanding performance as king, citing his contributions to peace, orderliness, and law in Nnewi and environs.

Describing Igwe K.O.N. Orizu III as a phenomenon, Prince Orizu highlighted his cousin’s achievements, including abolishing the Osu caste system, promoting education and healthcare, and fostering economic growth.

The Igwe’s 62-year reign has been peaceful, with notable contributions to Nnewi’s development, including inviting traders to establish markets and promoting industrialization.

He ensured the establishment of a teaching hospital in Nnewi, with the community contributing financially and otherwise.

Igwe KON Orizu III is known for his love, truth, justice, and fearlessness, earning him the nickname “Igwe Na Eje Uka” (The King that Goes to Church).

He has abolished discriminatory practices like “ohu” (slave) and “osu” (outcast), making everyone a free-born in Nnewi.

Prince Orizu commended Chief Cletus Ibeto for renovating the palace to modern standards.

The celebration highlighted the Igwe’s impact on Nnewi’s growth, with attendees praising his dedication to peace and development.

Igwe KON Orizu III’s legacy extends beyond Nnewi, contributing to the pride of Anambra, Igbo land, and Nigeria.

His commitment to Christianity and community service has earned him love and respect from God and the people. The event showcased Nnewi’s rich culture and the Igwe’s enduring influence on the community.

Tributes poured in from traditional rulers, political leaders, and citizens across Nigeria, praising the Igwe’s wisdom and gentle leadership.

Governor Soludo congratulated the Igwe, noting his contributions to Nnewi, Anambra State, and Nigeria, transcending traditional ceremonial functions.

The Igwe’s national honour as a Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and appointment as a Justice of the Peace (JP) reflect the high esteem in which he is held nationally.

Igwe K.O.N. Orizu III’s achievements and impact on Nnewi’s development are multifaceted, among which are inviting traders to establish markets in Nnewi, promoting economic growth and industrialization, ensuring the establishment of a teaching hospital in Nnewi, and improving healthcare services, promoting education, contributing to Nnewi’s development.
