Princess Clara Chinwe Nnabuife, the member representing Orumba North and South of Anambra State in the House of Representatives, is advocating for special seats for women in Nigeria’s legislative arms.

Addressing journalists recently in Abuja, Nnabuife expressed her support for reserving permanent seats for women in the legislature, citing their vital roles in society.

“We need to have more women in the legislatures,” she said. “The women have a lot of roles to play.”

The lawnmower believes the advocacy is gaining traction, with President and his wife endorsing the idea.

“It’s a gradual process,” she said. “We are getting there; the advocacy is on.”

As a lawmaker and a member of various House committees, Princesses Chinwe Clara Nnabuife says she has co-sponsored a bill for the creation of Etiti State.

She emphasizes women’s contributions in various fields, from healthcare to politics, citing examples like Mrs. Ransome Kuti and the Aba Women Riot.

Nnabuife disagrees that women don’t support their own, citing her own experience in her constituency.

“My people call me ‘Ahia Oma N’ere Onwe Ya’,” she said, highlighting her community work.

The lawmaker lists her achievements, including empowering many, constructing roads and classrooms, and installing solar street lights.

Nnabuife promises more work, saying “they ain’t seen anything” and focusing on effective legislation.

Looking ahead to 2026, she emphasizes dividends of democracy and effective legislation for her constituents.

Nnabuife is optimistic about APGA’s prospects, calling it “the party to beat” in Anambra State.

She advises her constituents to continue support Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts to transform Anambra State.

Nnabuife’s vision is for Anambra to become a business-industrial and technological hub.

Her message to women is one of hope and empowerment, urging them to keep pushing for representation.
