The president of Naija Autosports, Dr. Queen Zara Abubakar, is calling on the Nigerian Senate to back autosports development through legislation, highlighting its potential to boost economic growth, create jobs and beneficial relationship between Nigeria and other countries .

Addressing journalists recently in Abuja, she notes that Nigeria has the talent, but needs structure and coordination.

“We are blessed with talent, but the structure and coordination are not there,” she stated, appealing to the government, the legislatures and all stakeholders to do everything legitimately possible to encourage this kind of sports, for everyone’s benefit and interest.

According to her, autosports can drive job creation, youth engagement, tourism, and international partnerships, adding that the government support is needed for infrastructure development, policy creation, industry regulation, and international affiliations.

She therefore noted that legislative backing is required for establishing national autosports infrastructure, recognizing autosports as an economic sector, and funding youth development programs.

Dr. Abubakar’s vision is to establish Nigeria as a leading autosports hub in Africa and a respected player globally. She’s already made strides with Naija Autosports, creating a recognized identity and promoting Nigerian talent, like Philip Gana, who’s racing in the UK.
