Rivers United bounced back from their CAF Confederations Cup match-day one loss to Diables Noir of Congo to revive their chances of qualifying from their group with a comprehensive 3-0 win over ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivore on Sunday.

In a game played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, the reigning Nigerian champions made their intentions known from the kickoff as Malachi Ohawuma scored in the first minute to give the Pride of Rivers the lead.

Ukeme Williams made it two in the 42nd minute before Ngweni Dennis Ndasi completed the rout three minutes into the second half. It was a good result that restored the confidence of the Stanley Eguma coached boys who were very down after that match-day one loss where the Congolese side annihilated them 3-0 with all the goals scored in the first half.
