The Vehicle Owners Association of Nigeria (VOAN) has vowed to ensure that the transportation community enjoyed the benefits of the huge palliatives rolled by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
The group also called on President Tinubu to ensure that whoever must benefit from the transportation palliatives should first obtain  letter of clearance from its office.
In a letter addressed to the President through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) titled: ‘Support , solidarity and vote of confidence on Tinubu’s leadership and proper handling of the fuel subsidy removal debacle through the expected palliatives roll out’, the group said ‘this will enable us carry-out due diligence and run a background check on such individual or body corporate to ensure that they are genuine, viable and have capacity to manage the vehicles or loan facility for the benefit of Nigerians’.
In the letter jointly signed by the National President, Peacemaker Vincent Odo Okoko and Secretary General , Makinde V. Olawole, the group said ‘this will also allow us to monitor usage and report abuses’.
They said the arrangement will enable VOAN to use group pressure to recover the automobile loan when there is default by any vehicle owner or beneficiary.
Also, ” This is aimed at protecting the Federal Government’s scheme and ensures the sustainability of the good intention of the government into the indefinite future”.
“The Vehicle Owners Association of Nigeria (VOAN) is the umbrella organization for all Vehicle Owners in Nigeria. It is the umbrella body of the organized Vehicle Owners in Nigeria both in public and private sector registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria on the September 21st, 2015 and inaugurated at the prestigious General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja by the former Senate President, Late Senator Joseph Wayas on the 17th December, 2015.
” The organization with its over 20 million members was set-up to facilitate the new regime of effective transportation system, Vehicle Owners welfare, easier Vehicle Ownership strategies and safe motoring culture & practice in Nigeria.
” VOAN is the highest organization in automobile and transportation industry and also the most diverse, mass based and mass financed body in Nigeria today,” they said.
