The rulling party in Liberia, Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has expressed optimism, its Presidential Candidate and the incumbent President, Dr. George Manneh Oppong Weah, emerge victorious at the Presidential and Legislative elections, scheduled to take place in October 10, 2023.

In a statement on Friday, the party expressed optimism that the president will win the election at the first ballot, owing to his performance in office.

The party, also noted that the opposition bloc is no match to the president’s re-election bid, describing the president as development oriented leader.

This is as President Weah and his party, Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), on Thursday, officially launched its campaign in Monrovia, for the coming Presidential and Legislative elections.

The launch of the campaign, the party said, brought the whole of Monrovia to a standstill with major shops closed.

The supporters of the CDC, both young and old, the statement said, were not perturbed by the rain fall which started in the morning and stopped some where around midday.

The party noted that the supporters, who massively turned out in their numbers, were dressed in the party’s colour blue.

President George Weah, was accompanied to the venue of the official flag off of his campaign by party officials, ministers in his government and the Vice President, Jewel Cianeh Taylor.

The statement concluded that out of the thirty senatorial seats in the Liberian Parliament, fifteen will be up for grabs, as well as all seventy three members of the House of Representative.
