The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has advocated for a non- kinetic approach to be adopted in solving security challenges in south East.

Chief Iwuanyanwu stated this while addressing a world press conference in preparation for Igbo day celebration coming up on 29th of September 2023 in Enugu.

The Ohanaeze PG who expressed worry of the manner of killings and destruction in South East states as a result of insecurity said “I am going to advise a non-kinetic approach during Igbo day celebration.

“As a father , it’s my duty to call everybody to peace. I will bring peace to Igbo land. I will initiate a non-kinetic approach and appeal to our people to embrace peace,” he said

According to him, the non-kinetic approach will require everybody support both state and federal government noting “It will be good for federal government to have peace in south east as it won’t pay to have bloodshed because bloodshed doesn’t pay anybody .

“I’m going to reach out to aggrieved people and talk peace , I will beg them. I will even give them my life, if they want to take my life, I’m ready to surrender my life for peace to reign in Igbo land.

“I will set up a committee and send people to go to Finland and other places these people are to beg them , all these people are my children so I am not happy with the situation . Bloodshed must stop because we are ready to empower our youth . My resolution is enough of bloodshed.

“What we are seeing in Igbo land today is very strange because of the forceful sit at home order. Security of every state in Nigeria is the responsibility of the federal government . In our constitution, the federal government has a duty to protect lives and properties .
If people stop citizens for going out for their normal duty, it’s the responsibility of the federal government to provide for them because these people are staying at home because of insecurity which federal government could not contain.

“As a father and a leader, each time people are killed, I feel very sad because those of them doing this are doing it because of poverty and unemployment. I am not saying that hunger or unemployment should make somebody become criminal but not everybody got the capacity to endure hardship or hunger so we must come in and alleviate their sufferings.

On Igbo day celebration, Chief Iwuanyanwu said “I’m celebrating this Igbo day with Joy, I feel better this year than last year . I’m telling our youth that I and my executives have resolved to create employment opportunity and by the time we finish what we are doing, south East states will be great.

“We will kick start the Igbo day celebration on sunday 24th of September with Thanksgiving service to seek the face of God.

“On 28th of September, there will be Inauguration of various committee that will be the foundation of a new Igbo land we are trying to build, education committee will be headed by prof Chinedu Nebo, former minister of power and also Committee on Labour and skill acquisitions will be headed by Dr Chris Ngige, former minister of Science and Technology.

“Also, as we know, we have a problem in our culture and we want to go through a process of cultural revival so we have set up a committee on culture, this Committee is headed by Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred. Obi of Onitsha has in this Committee all the chairmen of traditional rulers in the seven states of Igbo speaking states which are Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Delta and Rivers state.

“We also set up a Committee on three categories of award in Igbo land and they include grand heroes of Igbo land, Distinguished heroes of Igbo land and Heroes of Igbo land. These awards will be given to Igbo heroes like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Odumegwu Ojukwu, Aguiyi Ironsi, Alex Ekwueme among others,” he said.
