President Bola Tinubu has urged the people of Bayelsa State to align with the government at the centre by voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Timipre Sylva, in Saturday’s governorship election.

The national chairman of APC, Abdullahi Ganduje officially presented the party’s flag to Sylva and his running mate, Joshua Maciver, at the rally.
Tinubu, who was represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, said his administration would partner with the ncoming government of Sylva to tackle the perennial challenges of coastal erosion and flooding that had been unsettling the people of Bayelsa.
He said, “It is high time the people of Bayelsa should align themselves with the government at the centre.
“President Ahmed Tinubu will work assiduously with the incoming governor, Timipre Sylva, to address the problem of coastal erosion, youth unemployment and empowerment for the people of Bayelsa State.
“You people will have the opportunity to be represented in the centre.”
Also speaking, the chairman of APC National Campaign Council for Bayelsa, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State said despite the hurdles put in place to frustrate the party and its candidate, it had emerged stronger, expressing optimism on the chances of victory.
He stated: “They took us to court believing that they will repeat what they did at the other time. We proved them wrong and went to appeals and crossed over. We are sure of victory and APC will occupy the Government House in this state.”
The national chairman of APC and former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje said the party was convinced that its candidate, with his experience and exposure as a former governor and ex-minister, would develop Bayelsa if given the mandate to govern.
“We are convinced that we are fully ready for this election. Sylva is very experienced and he has come with a six-point agenda for the development and the prosperity of your great state. On Saturday, you will help by voting APC”, he said.
Sylva, who is a former governor of the state and immediate-past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, promised to focus on his six-point agenda to develop the state’s human and material resources.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the APC in Bayelsa, Dennis Otiotio asserted the people were ready to vote for the party to solve the challenges of want and underdevelopment in the state.
