Abuja Breakfast Club (ABC) said it has incorporated of a business name to enable engage heavy transactions and advance the revenue inflow of the club.
Engr. Philip Okpanefe, the President of the Abuja Breakfast Club, who made the disclosure at the 6th Annual General Meeting, also used the occasion to reel out the achievements recorded since the establishment of the Socio-Cultural, Nongovernmental organisation six years ago.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the AGM in Abuja at the weekend, Engr. Okpanefe, said the club has grown in leaps and bounds and still growing on all fronts.
According to the ABC President, among the notable achievements recorded by the organization within the period under review include: “Conclusion of the Constitution review (awaiting adoption at the AGM): There were portions In the Constitution that were very ambiguous, We therefore set up a Committee to look at all such areas and the review has been completed;
“Increase in membership: the membership of the Club as at the time we assumed office was only 25, presently we have 41 members;
“Improvement in attendance of meetings by Members: In the time past, to form a quorum was a problem but presently, we have surmounted the problem with improved attendance.
“Tastefully furnished and fully operational Club House: We inherited the Club House from the former Exco and presently, the functionality of the Club House cannot be over-emphasized, as you all can attest to that;
Increase in revenue flow of the Club: The purse of the Club has grown very fat, as a result of prompt payment of dues and all other investments, to the extent that we can host our monthly meetings without recourse to begging or borrowing;
“Incorporation of a business name for the Club: A business arm has been created for the Club to engage heavy transactions and for individual members to pay royalty to the Club;
“Production of Muffler for Members: This is to create a proper identity for our members in Social outings;
“Production of T-Shirts and Face caps for members: our T-shirts and face caps are old and faded. We have consulted a reputable printer to produce a good one for members;
“Production of Notebooks for FCT Schools: As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, we have produced notebooks for schools in the FCT;
“Opening of a new Account (Fidelity Bank): The essence is to ensure Accountability and Transparency in reporting inflows, strictly for heavy transactions; and e Rendering of the Financial Report: This Is to keep members abreast of the state of the Clubs Account”.
Okpanefe noted that the whole idea behind the formation of the club was to promote friendship, eliminate cultural, religious and ethnic barriers, as well as create a platform for liberal-minded members and to also reach out to the less privileged in the society and indeed, Nigeria at large.
