At least three persons reportedly lost their lives when a bus belonging to St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Ise Ekiti, was involved in a ghastly accident.
The accident happened on Sunday morning when occupants of the bus mostly women, were on their way to Ado Ekiti to participate in an annual enrollment service.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Ekiti State, Olusola Joseph, who confirmed the accident said that two persons died instantly, while 10 occupants were injured. He said that the injured were rushed to hospital.
On the cause of the accident, the sector commander said, “It was tyre burst that was responsible for the accident involving the 18-seater bus.
“We will continue to appeal to motorists to keep to speed limits. They know the nature of the roads, so they should be very careful while driving on the roads.
“At the same time, they should keep to traffic rules and regulations”.
Reports said that the accident happened at Afolu after Ise Ekiti when one of the bus tyres bust and the driver lost control and the vehicle somersaulted severally.
Among the deceased persons were a newly wedded Evangelist and the wife of former Ise/Orun local government, Hon Adegbola.Those who sustained injuries were rushed to the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
The Anglican bishop of Ekiti, Rt. Rev. Andrew Olusola Ajayi in his reaction commiserated with the families of those that lost their lives and St. Mark’s Anglican church, Ise Ekiti and prayed that God will heal those injured.
