The late Vice President of the Association Of African Automotive Journalists (AAAJ) Trevor Lamenya was laid to rest today, Saturday August 30, 2025 in his hometown, Lusaala Hill, Vigina village, Kidundu Sub-Location, in Vihiga County, Western part of Kenya.

Trevor Lamenya, popularly known as “Big Boy Trev,” was a renowned Kenyan automotive journalist and media personality. He passed away on August 1, 2025, after a short illness. Lamenya was widely respected for his in-depth knowledge of the automotive industry and his engaging media presence.

In a statement jointly signed by Mike Ochonma, President and Fact Jeke, Secretary General of the Association Of African Automotive Journalists described the death of AAAJ not only a big loss to the African continental automotive body, but also that of global motoring industry.

Lamenya hosted the popular show “Cars with Big Boy Trev” on KTN and NTV, where he shared his expertise and passion for cars with a wide audience.

– *Media Consulting*: He worked as a media consultant for top-tier clients across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, providing expertise in corporate communications and marketing.

Lamenya was known for mentoring upcoming talent in the motoring community, paving the way for Kenyan automotive content creators.

– *Industry Impact*: His passing has been mourned by colleagues, fans, and industry insiders, who remember him for his warmth, generosity, and encouragement of upcoming talent in the automotive space.

He was a prominent figure in Kenya’s automotive scene, celebrated for his in-depth understanding of vehicles and his dynamic presence both on television and digital platforms.

For over a decade, he played a key role in shaping automotive conversations in Kenya, offering insights that appealed to both everyday consumers and industry professionals.

A graduate of Daystar University, where he studied communication and media, over the years, he built a distinguished career that included leadership roles such as Editor-in-Chief at Cullinan Media and PR Ltd, and previous editorial positions at AutoVault Media Ltd.

He was best known for hosting Cars with Big Boy Trev (CBBT), an automotive review show aired on major Kenyan networks including KTN and NTV.
