Dr. Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State has expressed support for the ongoing review of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution. She believes the proposed electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 elections will strengthen transparency and credibility in the process.

Delivering a lecture titled: “The Political Climate in Nigeria, Challenges, Dynamics, and Prospect” at the 2025 Retreat for Remo Traditional Council in Sagamu, which was made available to media houses, Dr. Elegbeji highlighted the need for sustainable progress, just as she emphasized the importance of strengthening democratic institutions, promoting inclusive economic growth, enhancing accountability, and effective management of security challenges.

The aspirant noted that the proposed electoral reforms will address issues such as results transmission mechanisms, BVAS, electoral offenses commission, and party regulatory agency, which have caused confusion and legal disputes in the past. She advocated for political reforms, upholding justice, and igniting the potential that lies within every Nigerian.

Her paper highlighted the complexities of Nigeria’s political climate, shaped by ethnicities, religions, and historical influences. She urged leaders to reform, uphold justice, and tap into the potential of Nigerians, saying, “The future of Nigeria is not just in the hands of a few—it belongs to all of us. Together, we can build a nation worthy of our dreams.”

The traditional fathers in attendance, including the Akarigbo, Elepe, and Ologijo, praised Dr. Elegbeji’s brilliance, oratory prowess, and philanthropic works through the “Ayoola Elegbeji Foundation.” They wished her well in her quest to represent Remo in the Nigerian House of Representatives.
