The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN CON FCIarb (UK), paid a working visit to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, where he inspected ongoing infrastructural upgrades at the E-Wing.

Accompanying the Minister were key officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), including the Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, Director of Operations, Abdullahi Zubeir Mahmood, Director of Engineering, Engr Abiola Adejare, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, and Director of Special Duties, and Director, Corporate Services, Jensen Asaba among others.

Tunde Moshood, the Special Assistant Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in a statement, said the infrastructure upgrades, part of the Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Initiative, are central to the Honourable Minister’s third agenda in his 5-point strategic roadmap for the Ministry. Led by the Managing Director of FAAN, this initiative aims to foster stronger partnerships with the private sector to renovate and improve infrastructural facilities at all FAAN airports across the country, underscoring a commitment to excellence in service delivery and operational efficiency.

A notable achievement under this programme is the successful renovation of the E-Wing toilet at MMIA by Max Impact Africa. This upgrade, which the Honourable Minister and FAAN officials inspected today, sets a high standard for future renovation projects across Nigeria’s airports. The E-Wing renovation is a testament to FAAN’s strategy of leveraging private sector resources, expertise, and innovation to deliver infrastructure improvements that align with international standards and enhance passenger experiences.

Speaking during the inspection, the Honourable Minister lauded the FAAN Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Programme as a progressive step towards transforming the nation’s aviation sector. He emphasized the importance of sustained partnerships with the private sector to ensure that Nigeria’s airports remain competitive and capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving global aviation industry.

The Honourable Minister also officially launched the FAAN Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Programme during the visit, marking the beginning of broader efforts to enhance airport infrastructure nationwide. This initiative is expected to significantly elevate the quality of services at FAAN airports and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a key player in the global aviation industry.
