The woman leader, National Association of Nigeria Traders (NANTs) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Amb. Raxhael Adewumi, who doubles as the president of a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO): the Takem Empowerment Initiatives (TEIs), that trains, empowers, graduates, widows and the less privileged in the society, has hailed greeted President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in his one year in office.
The market woman leader addressed journalists on Tuesday in her office in the nation’s capital, while marking Mr President’s one year in office.
While still greeting Mr President, she said that his one year in office is with celebration, especially for recognizing the women in appointment, both as ministers and heads of parastatals.
Due to prudence she boasted that the women were endowed with, she however urged him to give appointment to more women, which if done, according to her would go a long way in addressing the economy. She also hailed him for including youths in the government, pointing out that it will go a long way to prepare them for future politics of the country, as the leaders of tomorrow.
While also commending Mr President for having been listening to people’s complaints and trying to find solutions, which according to her is one of the basic principles of democratic leadership, she however hailed him for commencing the commissioning of many completed projects within his one year in office, a move she noted would be beneficial to the country and help in the areas of economic growth and development.
Still hailing Mr President, she said it is one thing to start a project and another to complete it to the people’s benefits, even as she enjoined politicians to put political parties apart and collaborate to move the country forward.
Dr Rachael Adewumi however drew the attention of Mr President to the plights of traders, informing that due to the cost of living, traders have been finding it difficult in their businesses. Appealing to Tinubu to use his good office and political experience to wade into the: high price of fuel, which she attributed to the cause of rise in the transportation fares; problems of banditries, kidnappings, among others, the NGO president observed that those problems had been affecting sellers and buyers and Nigerians in no small measure generally.
She also made case for the less privileged in the society, for them to feel the impact of the government In that direction, she said: “On the way to reach the less privileged, for them to feel the impact of the government, well known and registered NGOs that knows how to penetrate the rural dwellers and the poor in the society should be used. If used, it will be easy for them to locate these group of people.”
She therefore assured the president of her women’s continued support, provided he continues to do the right thing.
