The Civil Liberty Organization, has expressed outrage, over the unbearable pains Nigerians are made to endure, as a result of unsound and inept socio economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration, as well as the sub national authorities, stressing that “enough is enough”.

The President of Civil Liberty Organization (CLO), Comrade Igho Akeregha, who gave this caution, while responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja, also tasked Nigerians to be vigilant against the ruthless and oppressive leaders of the Nigerian State.
He urged impoverished Nigerians who are currently reeling in pains and anguish from the so-called subsidy removal, multiple taxation, hike in electricity tariff and other forms of neo-colonial slavery as a direct consequence of corruption to quickly wake up from their slumber to find their lost voice.
He said that Nigerians can take back their country from the ruthless leaders by individually and collectively raising their voices against the obvious and oppressive tendencies of the government.
He noted that if in a country of 200 million people, 50 million people speak out and say enough is enough, then the government will listen to them and change for the better.
According to him, “They are doing what they are doing because the rest of us are just being quiet. Each time they push the bar we adjust. We all know how the Arab spring started. But Nigerians are used to tolerating suffering. I know, you guys went through harrowing experiences to get to this venue, the money you paid to get here, may triple by the time you are leaving here and you will go back to your offices and adjust your life style. May be you will comprise your meal to give way for other expenditure. The question is how long are we going to tolerate this direct assault on our livelihood? This is an existential issue, it is about life and death. So, if we do not rise up, whether we are lawyers, or medical doctors or journalists, whatever profession that we find ourselves, if we don’t say that enough is enough, I can tell you that oppressor do not give up”.
He noted that the only language the oppressors understand is a stronger forces of resistance.
The CLO, he said is not going to negotiate with anybody or hold meetings with the government.
“We are going to continue what we are doing, we have a tradition of resisting obnoxious and oppressive policies. CLO had never negotiated with the government. We monitor the progress of governance and once we see that the policies been pushed out by any government is anti people, we will confront it,” he said.
Comrade Akeregha, said,
the rights to life is inherent, it is fundamental, and it is given by God, adding that when the government push policies that seems to push you into extinction, it is within the ambit of the law for you to resist it using every legal means at your disposal.
“If we can get 500 Nigerians who will go to the gate of National Assembly and sit down on the floor and prevent entry and exit, even if the government forces have to kill them, they would be tired of killing, it happened in China and it Led to revolution and they are better for it today,” he said.
The President said the CLO is urging Nigerians to keep vigil over Nigeria’s hard won democracy as the regular visits and hob-nobbing of the former Governors and corrupt politicians with Tinubu at the seat of power is a clear and present danger to efforts to rebuild our battered country.
“We appeal to President Tinubu whose election is being seriously challenged at the election petitions court to not convert the highest office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria into a rehabilitation centre for politicians who put the country in this sorry state. Indeed, most Nigerians would question the propriety of President Tinubu parading criminal politicians as good men at the highest seat of power in the country.
The CLO, which led from the front in our collective quest and struggle for just society where citizens should be proud to call themselves Nigerians is drawing local and international attention to the regrouping of these questionable individuals who are mobilising and now poised to determine the future of the country in accordance with their sordid standard and definition. Collectively, Nigerians say no to blood-sucking groups of vampires who have left our wealthy country in ruins and transformed it into a vast killing field of innocent citizens,” he further said.
The CLO called on Nigerians to organise and mobilise to take back their country for eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.
