The death has been announced of Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, first post military Governor of Anambra State.
He was aged 85. The announcement was made on behalf of the family by Chief Rob Nwakaire Ezeife in the early morning of Friday December 15.
The announcement read: “On behalf of the Ezeife Dynasty of Igbo-Ukwu, I wish to announce the promotion to glory of our most distinguished son, Okwadike, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife,CON, a former Federal Permanent Secretary, the first Executive Governor of Anambra State, a former Political Adviser to the President and former Presidential Aspirant.
“This sad event took place yesterday at 6pm at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja. More details about the deceased and the arrangements for his State Burial will be announced later”.
Ezeife is most remembered as champion of ‘Think Home’ Philosophy as Governor of Anambra state when he called on Anambra people all over the world to direct their investments home.
Born in 1938, Ezeife was elected as Governor of Anambra State on the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP) and he ruled between January 2, 1992 to November 17, 1993 when the government was shoved aside by General Sani Abacha who wanted to transmute into civilian president.
