Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at the National Assembly has stressed that security is a collective responsibility, urging stakeholders to join forces to ensure a safe and secure FCT for all residents. Hon. Obika however underscored the critical importance of robust funding for security operations within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He highlighted his proactive legislative work, specifically the proposed bill for the establishment of an FCT Security Trust Fund, designed to create a sustainable financial framework for enhancing security infrastructure and capabilities.

In a press release from Amb. Emenike Egbusunwa, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the lawmaker, Obika spoke as a distinguished guest and keynote speaker at the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Security Summit, hosted by the Utako Division over the week.

Furthermore, Hon. Obika revealed that he has formally communicated with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, proposing the FCT as a pilot zone for the full implementation of Community Policing. This initiative aims to integrate local knowledge and community participation into the security architecture for more effective and grassroots-driven policing.

In his closing remarks, he commended the organizers of the PCRC Summit for convening the timely event, noting that it addresses paramount security concerns at a critical period when the FCT and the nation at large require significant bolstering of safety measures.
