In a show of appreciation for recent developments in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), indigenous residents have praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike for their commitment to progress and transformation.
President Tinubu’s recent triumph at the Supreme Court has not only been hailed as a victory for Nigeria but has particularly garnered applause from FCT natives. Their appreciation extends to the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission and the Secretariat for Women Affairs, a significant move to reshape the territory’s administration.
Stakeholder and elder statesman, Danjuma Tanko Dara, speaking on behalf of the FCT natives, has expressed his gratitude for these initiatives.
He particularly commended the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission and Women Affairs Secretariat, which are expected to usher in a new era of development in the region. The removal of the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has also been received positively.
Dara voiced confidence that these actions will lead to a multitude of projects throughout the FCT in the coming months, heralding a new and improved landscape.
FCT residents are pleased to have Nyesom Wike as their Minister and express their unwavering support for both the President and the Minister. They believe that these strategic moves will not only facilitate the growth of Abuja but also improve the well-being of civil servants.
Dara further emphasized that the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission will result in the appointment of Permanent Secretaries in the Secretariats and a Head of Service, promising a brighter future for FCT workers as they approach retirement.
The creation of a dedicated Secretariat for women, akin to state-level Ministries of Women Affairs, is seen as a beacon of hope for FCT natives and residents alike. It underscores the commitment to gender equality and empowerment.
President Tinubu’s dedication to enhancing the FCT’s financial autonomy through the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) is praised as a significant milestone for the region’s development.
Dara, referring to President Tinubu as a consummate democrat and leader of progressives, expressed optimism that the President will continue to prioritize the well-being and progress of the FCT natives throughout his administration.
Furthermore, the FCT Minister’s proactive approach to tackling security issues in the FCT, such as illegal mining activities, is recognized and appreciated. The deployment of surveillance teams to address these concerns is seen as a crucial step in ensuring the safety of the region.
Dara called for outsiders to respect the FCT’s autonomy and refrain from calling for the removal of Minister Wike, asserting that his leadership has been transformative for the territory.
The indigenous population is pleased with the effective efforts of the Police and Civil Defence Corps in enhancing security, aligning with Minister Wike’s promise to restore Abuja to its rightful status.
The commitment to improving street lighting, sanitation, and infrastructure development, including road networks, has raised hopes among FCT natives for a brighter future.
Dara conveyed the hope that Minister Nyesom Wike would be the last appointed Minister for the FCT, with the next appointment being a legitimately elected governor, a move seen as fitting and beneficial for President Bola Tinubu.
