The Federation of Ondo Indigenes in Abuja ( FEDOSIA) has expressed its congratulations to Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on his victory in the Ondo State Governorship election held on Saturday, describing the success a long walk to victory.
In a statement released by its General Secretary, ‘Sola Akingboye, on Sunday, the Federation’s Chairman, Mr Dipo Akinsola, commended the maturity and sense of responsibility demonstrated by all candidates before, during, and after the announcement of the results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday. He acknowledged the commendable conduct of key political actors in race.
“The 2024 governorship election in Ondo State is a litmus test of our unity as a people and has showcased the leadership capabilities of the 17 candidates, regardless of the eventual winner.
INEC’s proactive measures, including the timely deployment of personnel and resources, have been commendably noted for instilling confidence among the electorate, stated Akinsola.
The organization urged the newly elected Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, to be magnanimous in his victory, reflecting on the challenges he faced on his path to success, particularly the crisis witnessed under his late predecessor and the intense campaigns in the build to the gubernatorial election in the state.
The group emphasized the importance of the governor embracing inclusivity and viewing his victory as an opportunity to serve all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations.
“In a context of this nature, a winner is inevitable; therefore, Gov. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa should regard his election as a divine blessing and perceive the obstacles encountered along the way as strengths that will enable him to fulfil his electoral promises to the Ondo people.
“The Governor must shun any form of discrimination against individuals within the state and across party lines.
“I also want to encourage all aggrieved parties to pursue legal avenues for any electoral grievances, upholding the rule of law and promoting harmony and unity within the state,” Akinsola advised.
In alignment with the Federation’s agenda for the incoming governor, the organization expressed its commitment to supporting Ayedatiwa’s administration in achieving success. It recommended that he prioritize projects that are people-centred and economically driven, particularly those aimed at alleviating the current economic difficulties faced by Nigerians as a whole.
“At FEDOSIA, we pledge our unwavering support to Governor Ayedatiwa as he continues as the state’s elected leader.
“As indigenes of the state, operating in the diaspora, there is no limit to what we can do for our state in terms of its socio-economic development. This commitment is central to the mission that founded FEDOSIA.”
