The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, on Friday solicited the cooperation and collaboration with the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) in the project of redirecting Nigeria on the path of value reorietation and sustainable growth.
The Minister who made the call 50th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the AAAN in Abuja with the theme:”50 Years Young, Ready for More, noted that the election of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, to the most exalted office in the land has presented Nigerians with a set of opportunities to set this nation on a higher pedestal.
Represented at the occasion by Mr. Sunny Baba, the Ministry’s Director, Public Communication and National Orientation, Malagi called for the support of all veritable change agents in the formal, informal and the private sector to move to move the country in the direction of sustainable growth in all frontiers of national economy of Nigeria.
“As you all know, the recent election of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, to the most exalted office in our land has presented us with a set of opportunities to set this nation on a higher pedestal.
“We therefore need the support of all veritable change agents in the formal, informal and the private sector to move our great nation in the direction of sustainable growth in all frontiers of our economy.
“While positive changes could present some challenges, we are encouraged by the knowledge that the outcome will be of immense benefit to the teeming populace.
“In this direction, we are soliciting for the cooperation of the AAAN in keying into the Renewed Hope Agenda of this Administration and support Government commitment to the value reorientation of citizens. We are forthright in our determination to set this nation on a path of growth” he said.
The Minister reiterated that advertising plays a pivotal role in shaping public perception, driving economic growth, and fostering creativity and innovation.
According to him, over the past five decades, AAAN has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, professionalism, and ethical standards in the field of advertising, stressing that its dedication has not only propelled the industry forward but has also inspired countless individuals and organizations to strive for greatness.
In his remarks, Steve Babaeko, the President of AAAN, noted that the future of the industry holds promise for the association, even though it had gone through turbulent times, having been confronted by the dual challenges of macroeconomic headwinds and technological disruptions among others things.
Babaeko declared that AAAN can confidently assert that ‘we are living up to this theme: ’50 Years Young, Ready for More’, in the face of the dynamic changes we’ve witnessed, especially the influx of young professionals and agencies into our fold’.
“Our chosen theme for this remarkable milestone is “50 Years Young, Ready for More.” In the face of the dynamic changes we’ve witnessed, especially the influx of young professionals and agencies into our fold, we can confidently assert that we are living up to this theme.
“Our industry has confronted the dual challenges of macroeconomic headwinds and technological disruption, which have impacted not only our clients’ bottom lines but our own as well. However, even in the midst of these turbulent times, I firmly believe that the future of our industry holds promise. By standing united as members of the same family, we can navigate these challenges and emerge stronger” he said.
