The Management of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Abuja has suspended all development exercise in its estates in Gwarinpa, Apo and Guzape in the Federal Capital Territory FCT).

The Head Public Affairs of FHA, Mr Kenneth Chigelu, made this known in a statement issued in Abuja.

According to him, the suspension includes all construction, structural and building developments.

Chigelu said the decision followed the management’s discovery of deliberate deviations from approved building plans and fragrant disobedience of Development Control directives by the authority.

He said the management of FHA would not fold its hands to see the decay of such a national monument like Gwarinpa estate as a result of willful distortion of the master plan.

“It is a common knowledge that a lot of residential properties have been turned into commercial purposes in the estate without approval.

“This is causing nuisance to residents, while some allottees have overbuilt their plots and illegally annexed government land, ” Chigelu said.

He said that to restore order and sanity, the FHA management has decided to review all building approvals in the estate.

According him, this is to ensure conformity with Development Control standards and to ascertain genuine approvals.

“Consequently, all developments in the estate are hereby suspended until management concludes the review of all development plans,” he said.

He said that noncompliance with the directive would be met with stiff penalty.(NAN)
