Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) operating under RS1.1 Kaduna Sector general operation area, has successfully averted a major disaster following a lone tanker crash that occurred at NEPA Roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna, in the early hours of Sunday, 8th February, 2026.

Olusegun Ogungbemide, Assistant Corps Marshal, Corps Public Education Officer, explained in a statement that at about 0715HRS, the Sector Command received a distress call reporting a fallen fuel tanker at the location. Upon receipt of the information, a rescue team from RS1.1 Kaduna, led by Deputy Route Commander (DRC) I. Gunda, was immediately mobilised to the scene.

Upon arrival, FRSC personnel promptly secured the area by closing all roads leading to the crashed tanker to prevent secondary crashes and possible fire outbreak.

Traffic diversion was swiftly put in place to ensure seamless vehicular movement and minimise congestion within the metropolis.

Personnel of the Federal Fire Service as well as those of the Nigerian Police Force are currently on ground, working collaboratively with the FRSC to ensure public safety, as efforts are ongoing to safely evacuate the fuel content and remove the tanker from the road in order to restore normal traffic flow.

No casualty was recorded as at the time of this report.

The Federal Road Safety Corps commends road users for their cooperation and urges motorists to remain calm, obey traffic directives, and exercise patience while recovery operations continue.

The Corps reiterates its commitment to proactive response, effective traffic management, and the protection of lives and property on Nigerian roads.
