INEC Declares Tinubu President -Elect

— Present Certificate Of Return 3pm Today

Prof Mahmood Yakubu has declared Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the February 25 ,2023 presidential election.

And this is despite the insistence of opposition parties for alleged irregularities witnessed during the exercise in parts of the country to be reviewed in line with Section 65 of the 2022 Electoral Act.

Tinubu polled a total of 8,894,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party who respectively polled 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes. Rabiu Kwankwaso got 1, 296,687 votes.

A Total of 24, 924,218 valid votes was recorded across the country

Declaring Tinubu as the president-elect, Prof Yakubu, the presidential chief returning officer said the APC flagbearer has satisfied the requirements of the law and therefore returned elected.

He added that the president – elect would be presented with his certificate of return later today at 3pm.

It should be noted that all major opposition parties including the PDP, Labour Party,NNPP, ADC have called for the cancellation of the entire process, accusing the commission of collusion in a flawed process.
