Abuja-based lawyer Amobi Nzelu Esq has slammed President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration over the country’s economic challenges, Marking two years of Tinubu’s presidency, Nzelu highlighted pressing issues plaguing Nigeria.
While addressing journalist in Abuja over the weekend, Nzelu bemoaned the rising inflation, which according to him has eroded citizens’ purchasing power.
He criticized the deplorable state of infrastructure, citing its negative impact on the economy.
Expressing concern over escalating insecurity, saying that it has over the years been driving investors away, the legal icon had this to say: “Most of the investors are closing down, running to establish in Ghana.”
Nzelu also emphasized the need for transparency in governance, saying: “Let there be openness in whatever you do. Under-table transactions in Nigeria have killed the nation.”
Nzelu mentioned an impending judiciary staff strike over unpaid minimum wage. “Judiciary staff may be going on strike soonest due to inability to fulfill the minimum wage,” he warned
Speaking on poor condition of education in the country, he lamented the decline of public schools, a condition he attributed to the exodus of stakeholders to private schools with unaffordable fees.
On the way forward, Nzelu suggested a national rethink. “If Nigerians can go back to the drawing table and do the needful, the country will be okay,” he said, adding: “Let them tell Nigerians how much is being generated.”
