Ahead of Saturday local government election in Oyo state, some people suspected to be political hoodlums have reportedly attacked and snatched some materials to be used for the election in Okeho in Kajola local government area in Oyo state.

It was learnt that the materials which were hijacked by the hoodlums in the early hours of Friday are to be used for the local government election in the state tomorrow (Saturday).

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) is the one conducting the election in all the 33 local government areas in the state.

A source said that the hoodlums from Okeho in Kajola local government area snatched the materials, noting that the snatched materials have been recovered from the suspects.

The source who claimed anonymity also revealed that the affected materials have been returned back to Ibadan.

OYSIEC Chairman, Isiaka Olagunju when contacted, confirmed the incident, however, said no materials were snatched.

Olagunju in a telephone conversation maintained that the Divisional Police Officer in the town has been mandated to arrest the suspects.

According to him, “That is not true. The fact is that there was an attack, there are some hoodlums, who attacked our officials last night at Okeho. No material was snatched.

“In fact, the DPO of Okeho and other security agencies followed our EO back to Ibadan, they just went back to Okeho now. And we have directed the DPO of Okeho to arrest the suspects. That is what happened”.
