Nigeria Celebrates Republic of Mauritania, As Nigeria–South Africa Bi-National Commission hold in Cape Town

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Amb Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, sends his warmest greetings and congratulations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Dr. Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk, on the occasion of their National Day.

This was as the 11th session of the Nigeria–South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) hold in Cape Town, South Africa.

A statement by Acting Spokesperson,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said,
“It is a great honour to extend our warmest wishes to you, the government, and the people of Mauritania on the auspicious occasion of your National Day.

“We note with great satisfaction the excellent relations between our two countries and the efforts we are making to build on these firm foundations for the benefit of our peoples.

“We therefore wish the government and the people of Mauritania peace, prosperity, and progress and Nigeria’s continuing friendship and support”.

Also, the 11th session of the Nigeria–South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) which is scheduled for 28 November to 3 December 2024, is ongoing in Cape Town, South Africa.

The ministry’s Spokesperson said that Nigeria–South Africa Bi-National Commission was created to facilitate cooperation between the two countries in areas such as: defence and security, science and technology, education and culture, manufacturing, and energy.

“Therefore, the 11th Session of the BNC will among others provide a framework for collaborative and cooperative efforts to bring Africa into the mainstream of global political, social and economic developments; afford the governments and private sectors of both countries to consult each other on their respective economies and investment climates with a view to promoting trade and industry; improve bilateral relations in the field of technology, education, health, culture, youth and sports; utilize the generous endowments of both countries to maximize socio-economic development, through economies of scale, global competitiveness and specialization; and establish the mechanisms for putting the benefits of economic cooperation to the service of peace, stability, social integration and economic development in other parts of the continent,” Ebienfa said.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, led the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation to participate at the Ministerial Meeting of the BNC.
