JUDGMENT DAY: The Vice President, Kashim Shettima and other dignitaries arrive the PEPC for judgement on three petitions seeking to nullify President Bola Tinubu’s election
Ahead this morning Presidential Election Petition Court judgment, heavily armed security agents from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Army, and the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps, NSCDC, have mounted road blocks to entries leading to the Court of Appeal, venue of the judgement.
As part of measures to check infiltrators and nip any possibility of violence in the bud, the Department of State Services, DSS, with long lists, are verifying identities of everyone entering the premises.
The 5-man PEPC lead by Justice Haruna Tsammani will give it’s judgment on three different petitions filed by Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party and the Allied People’s Movement.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, had on March 1, 2023, declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, as winner of the February 25, presidential Election.
It declared that Tinubu scored a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat the two major contenders, Alhaji Atiku of the PDP, who came second with a total of 6,984,520 votes, and Mr. Obi of the LP, who came third with a total of 6,101,533 votes. But the result of the election is being challenged by Atiku, Obi and APM.
