The suspension touches top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, who has been ordered to hand over to the Permanent Secretary.

The Chief of Staff, alongside Honourable Commissioners, who are equally expected to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Chairmen and members of all boards, councils of agencies, commissions, institutions, and parastatals have also been suspended till further notice.

Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants have not been spared, as they too have been suspended.

The affected officers are required to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in their MDAs.

For ministries and departments where there are no Permanent Secretary, the suspended appointees are to hand over to the most senior Director or Head of Administration.

The suspension is expected to further move to consolidate the state of emergency declared by the President, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his Deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months.
