SON Trains NiMet QMS Staff On ISO 21001:2018 Standard – Educational Organization Management System (EOMS)

Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) has concluded the training of NiMet’s Quality Management System (QMS) staff on ISO 21001:2018 Standard – Educational Organization Management System (EOMS).

The training took place from the 28th of October to the 1st of November, 2024, at Sawalino Hotel Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The ISO 21001:2018 standard (EOMS) is a requirement of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Under the requirement, NiMet is to implement an EOMS program to ensure that Aeronautical Meteorology (AeroMet) and Climate Science training are delivered to students and interested parties at both the MBMIST Katsina and RTC Oshodi, consistently in an efficient manner to meet set international requirements for the National Hydrological and Meteorological Services (NHMS).

The EOMS provides a common management tool for organizations providing educational products and services to meet learners’ and other customer requirements and needs.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency is committed to implementing the EOMS at both its WMO Regional Training Centre (RTC) Oshodi, and the Muhammadu Buhari Meteorological Institute of Science and Technology (MBMIST) at Katsina.

The Management of NiMet, led by Professor Charles Anosike is focused on consistently providing excellent and innovative products, improvement in services, and the harmonisation of national standards within an international framework that enables better alignment of educational mission, vision, objectives, and action plans that lead to continual improvement of products and services given to customers by its highly dedicated and trained workforce.
