The National Association of Nigerian Students, (NANS ) has cautioned the Iyaloja General, Mrs Folasade Ojo against giving recognition to an individual who is not elected by the Nigerian Students body as the President of the association.

In a release issued on Monday and signed by the Senate President of NANS, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, the Nigerian Students body said the person elected as NANS President at its just concluded Convention is Comrade Lucky Emonefe, while Comrade Babatunde Afeez was elected Senate President among other executive members.

The statement affirmed that Lucky Emonefe and Comrade Babatunde Afeez were duly elected as NANS President and NANS Senate President respectively among other elected executive by the Congress of Nigerian students at the convention of NANS which was held at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja.

NANS said its attention has been drawn to an alleged move by the Iyaloja Folasade Ojo to be parading somebody who was not elected by the students body as the NANS President.

NANS said it considers this move as an affront to the collective decision of Nigerian students in choosing its leaders.

The students body said it is disappointed that the Iyaloja General, who is also the daughter of the President would stoop so low as to be caught in the web of trying to use her personality to legitimize somebody who is not elected by the students as its leader

” We are highly disappointed that the Iyaloja could stoop this low to allow her self be caught in the web of mess of attempting to use her personality to legitimize an illegitimate act.

“We refrained from taking the usual route and action traditionally established to send caution and warning signal against personalities caught in such abberation of encouraging factions and self declaration in NANS which includes but not limited to mobilization of students for protest at any public function organised by such person.

“Just for the sake of our love and respect for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), a passionate father and lover of Nigeria students and education development, we have decided to make this public statement to send open words of caution, as well as alert relevant agencies of government including the first family to call Iyaloja Folashade Ojo to order and stop her from involving herself in students affairs.

“Mrs Ojo should be reminded that NANS is a body of students in Nigeria and not that of market association.

“We believe she has no idea of how NANS operates nor our mode of operandi. She is not familiar with the struggle of NANS, its power play and election processes, hence she lacked jurisdiction by all standard to involve herself in what she knows nothing about.

“We hereby openly advise her to stay clear of the person impersonating as NANS President.

“She is advise to link up with security agencies to have detailed report on the just concluded NANS Convention to enable her understand the legitimate National President – Elect being Comrade Lucky Emonefe and Comrade Babatunde Afeez being Senate President- Elect among other Executive of NANS duly elected.

“An individual who declares himself inside Agura Hotel is never NANS President rather he is an impersonator and should be treated accordingly”, the statement added.
