A wave of panic has swept through Amaeze community in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, following the tragic and mysterious deaths of a woman, her daughter, and two others.

The incident, which occurred on September 1, 2024, has left the entire community in deep mourning as the cause of the deaths remains unclear.

According to reports, the four victims went to bed after having their evening meal, only to be found dead in their sleep the following morning.

The identities of the victims are yet to be fully confirmed, adding to the distress of the situation.

The traditional ruler of the community, HRH Igwe Felix Ugwu, confirmed the incident and expressed the community’s shock and grief. He explained that one of the victims, known locally as Mama Chijioke Amaeze, had been caring for her ailing mother in her home.

Tragically, the mysterious incident claimed not only the life of Mama Chijioke and her mother but also that of her sister and her daughter.

Despite the involvement of the Nigeria Police Force, Nsukka Police Division, which has taken the victims’ bodies to the hospital for autopsy and further investigation, the community remains unsettled.

The traditional ruler noted that the community is turning to spiritual means to uncover the cause of the tragedy, as it has left residents anxious and searching for answers.

“This is a shocking and unprecedented event for our community. We are doing everything we can to understand what could have led to this tragedy,” said HRH Igwe Felix Ugwu.

As investigations continue, the community remains on edge, hoping for clarity and resolution in the wake of this heartbreaking incident.
