The chairman pledged to uphold the tenets of the society, which hinged on commitment and integrity.

“Given the values cherished by the NSE Abuja Branch and the enviable antecedents of the founding fathers, I promise to hold dear this great position of trust and responsibility.

“I will lead the branch with integrity and professionalism and defend the members. I will also not betray this invaluable trust, no matter the price.

“I will work assiduously for better welfare and training programmes for members to promote knowledge transfer to ensure members achieve and maintain cutting-edge global best practices in all their engagements.

“Activities such as international industrial technical visits, talent hunts, annual general meetings, community engineering, and engineering training would be carried out,” he said.

He commended the Abuja branch for electing him and pledged his commitment to selfless service.

The outgone chairman, Mr Ben Osy-Okoh, said the election was a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in the new officials by members.

Osy-Okoh said that having worked with the new executives, there was no doubt in their capacity to surpass previous achievements.

“Today marks a significant milestone in the history of our branch as we witness a seamless transition of leadership as a testament to our collective dedication to professionalism, excellence, and service to society.

“The strength of NSE Abuja Branch lies not just in its position as the host branch of the nation’s seat of government or the NSE headquarters, but in its character, ideology, philosophy, distinctiveness, excellence, eloquence, resilience, and accomplishments.

“This is why we remain and will always be the first among equals. As I pass the baton, I urge us all to remain committed to these ideals.

“Our success as a branch depends on our collective resolve to build a better future for our profession and society,” he added.

Osy-Okoh promised the incoming executives of his unflinching support and called on all members to support the incoming leadership wholeheartedly to succeed.

Also speaking, Mrs Margaret Oguntala, the National Chairman of NSE, commended the members of the NSE Abuja branch for conducting a seamless election process resulting in the emergence of a capable team of leaders.

Oguntala, who was represented by Mr Chinanza Okoli, former Vice President of NSE, said that such efficiency was evidence of the organisational maturity of the branch.

“As we begin this journey with the new executive committee, I call upon every member of the NSE Abuja branch to extend their cooperation and support to ensure the success of the planned programmes.

“I also urge engineers to prioritise the objectives of our society, particularly in the area of capacity building.

“Our future depends on our ability to equip our members with the skills and knowledge necessary to tackle challenges.

“I also urge you to also focus on community engineering and make impacts, ”she said. (NAN)
