The Speaker, National Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN), Rt. Hon. Usman Shagari, has urged President Bola Tinubu to address pressing issues of insecurity, economic challenges, and electricity problems in the country.
Shagari made the call while speaking at a two-day national retreat in Abuja, with the theme, “Youth Contribution to National Development”.
He emphasised the importance of empowering young people to drive growth and progress, and urged the President to encourage other ministries and agencies of government to adopt an open-door policy.

According to him, such policy will enable youths to engage more and contribute to national development.
He commended the Minister of Youth Development for his open-door policy and support for Nigerian youth.
He urged other ministries and government agencies to adopt similar inclusive practices, to further integrate youths into national discourse and development programmes.
Shagari emphasised the vital role of young people in shaping Nigeria’s future and the need to strengthen youth inclusion in policy-making, entrepreneurship, innovation, and governance.
He said that the retreat would serve as a networking platform, allowing young leaders to forge new partnerships and collaborative strategies aimed at transforming their communities and contributing to national growth.
“The NYAN National Retreat stands as a powerful reminder of the potential Nigeria’s youths hold in steering the nation toward a prosperous future.
“Your passion and commitment to youth empowerment are truly inspiring. Together, we are laying the foundation for a stronger and more inclusive Nigeria,” he said.
The Speaker, therefore, expressed hope that the retreat’s outcomes would have lasting impact on efforts to harness the demographic dividend and unlock the potential of Nigerian youths. (NAN)
