The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, was on a two-day working visit to Ekiti State, where he conducted an inspection of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti.

A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, Tunde Moshood said that the visit is aimed at assessing the airport’s readiness for non-schedule passenger operations.

The Minister was warmly received by the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, alongside key members of the Ekiti State Government. During the inspection, the Minister commended the state-of-the-art facilities and the airport’s international-standard runway, which positions it as a hub for agro-cargo and emerging passenger operations.

The recent approval by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for non-schedule passenger operations marks a significant milestone in the airport’s development.

Coincided with the Minister’s visit was the celebration of his 55th birthday, the Governor eulogised the Minister and expressed gratitude for his unwavering commitment to aviation.

The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport is strategically positioned to support Nigeria’s non-oil export strategy, providing farmers and exporters with seamless access to international markets. With its operational advancements and continued support from the Federal Government, the airport is set to become a catalyst for socio-economic development.

The Minister’s visit reaffirms the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development’s dedication to creating a robust and inclusive aviation ecosystem that supports both cargo and passenger operations.
