A political grassroots organisation, the Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement (CAGraM), has sought collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Defence to strengthen national security engagement and mobilise support ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The group’s delegation, led by its Deputy National Chairman, Dr Agbi Omobamidele, made this known when they paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Omobamidele, the visit formed part of a broader institutional outreach strategy aimed at fostering closer ties between grassroots movements and national security institutions.
He stressed the need for improved communication and collaboration to address misinformation, build public trust, and enhance citizen participation in security-related matters.
“The visit is part of CAGraM’s strategic institutional outreach to key national stakeholders aimed at strengthening collaboration between grassroots structures and national security institutions.
“The outreach seeks to address the challenge of misinformation, public distrust, and disconnect between citizens and security institutions.
“This is necessary because while the Armed Forces and security agencies continue to make efforts to safeguard lives and territorial integrity;there is also a need for improved communication and grassroots engagement to reinforce public confidence and national unity,”,he added.
Omobamidele reaffirmed the movement’s support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that peace, stability, and security remained foundational to economic growth and shared prosperity.
While addressing well-meaning Nigerians,he called for collective responsibility in nation-building.
CAGraM’s National Organising Secretary, Tope Sanya, outlined the group’s mobilisation strategy for 2027, reiterating its commitment to delivering significant grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu.
“The movement is commited to delivering 10 million votes for President Bola Tinubu through its nationwide grassroots network of over 1.2 million members,”he said.
Sanya stated that the movement’s nationwide network would focus on voter education, community engagement, and policy advocacy aligned with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Also speaking, Olufowobi Desmond, the National Director of Media, urged citizens to lend their support not only through political participation but also by promoting unity, responsible information sharing, and constructive engagement with security institutions.
The delegation formally congratulated Musa on his appointment as minister, describing it as well deserved and timely given the current security realities.
The minister was presented as the Patron of the movement in recognition of his service to the nation.
Responding, Musa appreciated the gesture by CAGraM and expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by the movement.
Musa formally accepted the position as Patron of the group and assured the delegation of his continued commitment to securing Nigeria’s territorial integrity and strengthening national security architecture.
He emphasised that the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu was anchored on restoring stability, strengthening institutions, and creating an enabling environment for economic growth.
He reiterated that national security was a collective responsibility and called for sustained collaboration between government, grassroots organizations, and citizens to build a peaceful and united Nigeria.(NAN)
