Ahead of the 2027 general elections a youth group known as Youth Rendezvous For Greater Igbo Advancement has called on the leadership of All Progressive Grand Alliance ( APGA) and other political parties to allocate Ogbaru Federal Constituency seat in the Federal House of Representatives to Ogbaru 2 State Constituency also known as Okpoko community come 2027 election on the principle of zoning

The Youth group in an emergency general meeting held at their Secretariat in Onitsha bemoaned what they described as unacceptable situation that Okpoko even as a densely populated community in Ogbaru is yet to produce a member into the seat of Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the Federal House since the return of democracy in 1999 owing to the disposition of the people of Ogbaru 1 State Constituency to ever sideline Okpoko community.

Following the situation on ground the group who provided more evidence to back up their argument passionately called on all political parties in Anambra State to zone the ticket for the Federal House of Representatives election in Ogbaru Federal Constituency to Okpoko community to ensure that all candidates that will stand for the election during the election in 2027 are from Okpoko community.

The Coordinator and spokesman of the group Comrade Onyeka Nwachukwu who addressed journalists during the meeting listed how the people of Ogbaru 1 State Constituency also known as the inland communities in Ogbaru have continued to occupy the seat of Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Federal House since 1999 adding that allowing the inland communities to continue to occupy the seat again in 2027 contradicts the principle of zoning

Nwachukwu on behalf of the group repeatedly called on the leaders and stakeholders of political parties in Anambra State to take a critical look on the need to promote zoning and rotation of power at all levels in the State with Okpoko community as a case in point. “The issue of zoning and rotation of power has been well entrenched at the State level with the way the governorship seat is being rotated across the Senatorial zones in the State, so let zoning be narrowed down to other levels also” he added.
