German corporation to provide grants for innovative start-ups in Nigeria

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Corporation and Development (BMZ), has provided grants for innovative starts-ups in Nigeria.

The project is dedicated to provide impactful end-to-end education software solutions to re-invent learning and simplify all processes for educational institutions.

Mr Camilo Wilisch, Project Manager from the DeveloPPP (Development Partnership Programme), a funding programme of BMZ stated this when a delegation visited the Redeemer Teap International Schools (RTIS) in Abuja on Monday.

Wilisc said the delegation were at Redeemer Teap International Schools to assess the impact of Flexisaf Edusoft, one of the companies bidding to execute the project to assess its impacts on the school.

He said over 100 companies applied for the project to provide innovative solutions and Flexisaf Edusoft was among the top 10.

“DeveloPPP is funding programme for innovative start ups in Nigeria. Based on cost for application, we review about 180 to 200 applications per cohort and we selected most valuable and suitable businesses for the various funding.

“We involve private companies providing innovative solutions and in this case Flexisaf has made it to the top 10 and we are evaluating the company performance.

“We are trying to understand the business model, we want to understand the customers perspectives on their kind of solutions,” he said.

The Board Chairman of the school, Mr Ike Onyechere said the goal of the German DeveloPPP delegation visit was to evaluate possible areas and levels of collaboration with suitable institutions towards application of educational technology solutions.

Onyechere said the application of the innovation by Flexisaf Edusoft had enhance administrative, academic and accounting processes in very positive ways by creating students, parents and staff portal for easy access to database thereby enhancing planning processes.

In a presentation, the Head of ICT Administrator of the school, Mrs Ann Ebeh-Ifeanyi said the innovation had provided a simplified academic processes as well as fee configuration payment.

‘’The platform provided quicker and easier configuration of fee for various classes, fee payment progress update are seen on fee admin dashboard.

“It has enhanced fee administration and monitoring, and also eliminated errors that usually lead to loss of revenue with secured payment gateway,’’ she said.
