“The governor who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia expressed gratitude to partners who made the project a reality, citing Enugu State’s capability as a partner in advancing development goals

He envisioned clean energy solutions across all sectors, ensuring benefits for every community.

Governor Mbah thereby promised to equip healthcare facilities and train personnel, while residents will also enjoy renewable energy supply.

He called on stakeholders to dedicate themselves to the project’s huge success, emphasizing collaboration to build a healthier and brighter future for Enugu State.

The Governor said “This initiative aligns with the state’s mission to provide credible and sustainable healthcare financing, reducing out-of-pocket expenses With over 1,000 ongoing projects across the state, Governor Mbah’s administration is committed to transforming primary healthcare in Enugu” he said

Also speaking, Dr. Ifeyinwa Ani-Osheku, Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ENSPHCDA) emphasized that providing quality healthcare is crucial for any economy’s growth.

She said “Investing in the health sector is a must, and that’s why Enugu State government has taken a significant step towards achieving this goal with the launch of its Solar for Health project.

According to her “This initiative aims to deliver quality of healthcare services to the people, recognizing that power is essential to fulfilling this mandate. Vaccines require controlled temperatures, and without reliable electricity, the process becomes impossible .

“The project’s significance cannot be overstated, as it seeks to provide patients with access to care day and night.

“Under the leadership of the Governor, Enugu State is constructing 260 Type 2 primary healthcare facilities in every ward. This ambitious endeavor aims to transform the healthcare system, reducing high maternal rates and ensuring children reach their full potential

“By delivering quality health services, Enugu’s youth can grow intellectually and compete with their peers,” she said

Also, Mrs Inga Stephanowicz, Head of Section, Green Economy EU, Nigeria said Light is a necessity for healthcare services, and lack of energy can mar healthcare delivery.

She said “As the first state in Nigeria to adopt this innovative project, Enugu State is combining public and private resources to ensure its success.

“The project’s implementation will commence with the selection and design phase, engaging the business community and healthcare stakeholders.

She commended Governor Mbah for investing in the project noting ” the Governor has demonstrated strong support and determination towards the project, which is expected to be a game-changer for healthcare centers in the state. By providing reliable energy, the project will enhance the quality of healthcare services, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages,” she said.
