The Executive Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Awka Anambra State, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi has won the best State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB in the Southeast Geopolitical Zone.

The event, organised by the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja and sponsored by Nigeria’s first Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu was held at the Main Auditorium, National Commission for Colleges of Education, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

According to the Chairman, National Advisory Board of the President’s Schools Debate, Nigeria, PSDN, Hon. Usman Mohammed, the award was recommended as a result of the activities of the SUBEB Chairmen with respect to provisions of basic teaching and learning facilities in their states, out of which the Executive Chairman of ASUBEB has distinguished herself.

The award ceremony was part of the activities marking the grand finale of the 64th Independence Anniversary edition of the President’s Inter- Schools Debate, Nigeria, for the Basic Schools Championship.

Responding after receiving the award, Dr. Nwadinobi expressed delight with the award, describing it as a testament to the hardwork and dedication of the entire ASUBEB team, facilitated by the immense support by the State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR.

“I dedicate this award to Mr. Governor, who is a great motivator, and without whom this award couldn’t have been possible”, she opined.

She promised not to relent in improving basic education in Anambra State, adding that the experience garnered in the Abuja Inter-Schools championship will guide their preparations next year.

Meanwhile, the coordinator, President’s Schools Debate, Nigeria, Elder Dare Oritu in his address, noted that the winners of the championship will help them to select the team to represent Nigeria in the international debate competition next year.
